First Monarchs… 2014

Monarch caterpillar antennae

If you read this article about the perilous decline of Monarch butterflies, perhaps you will have some sense of my utter delight when I saw the little antennae pictured above. I have recently been spending a bit of time at a very very special organic farm, and among many many wondrous things it most definitely provides an example of milkweed and traditional agriculture going hand in hand! I’ve been examining chewed leaves for a couple weeks- but after a lot of no shows was really taken aback by this guy!
